This is kind of awesome, and kind of involves the Dodgers, just the first grade kind.

It’s a little too late into the season for me to be making predictions, but hey, why not determine some stuff? I’ve been getting lots of criticism from haters — because let’s admit, they are straight up HATERS — on how the Dodgers are just going through a hot streak, but why is that a problem? Hell, the 2010 Giants (it physically hurts to type that out) were essentially a series of hot streaks and they won a Series. We had a pretty great year in ‘09, and in my opinion, our lineup and ownership are lightyears better than ‘09.

Do I see us winning a Series? No. Do I see us entering postseason as a genuinely competitive team, leaving others in fear of next season? Oh, hell yeah. We have a decent amount of great tools under our belt that, if used intelligently, can kick the National League’s ass. Our pitching staff is cleaning up beautifully and we have Matt Kemp in his own league of complete and utter domination. With it being Ethier’s contract year and batting after Kemp, we’re gonna be seeing a LOT more from him. Loney is still in his mild beginning-of-the-season slump, but for a guy that bats over .300 during the second half of the season, am I really that upset? Not really. He’ll do wonders for our postseason play.

I’m hopeful, and I haven’t said that in a while.

“Matt Kemp homers in 10th as Dodgers beat Nationals 4-3 to spoil Bryce Harper’s strong debut” (via)
There’s only one thing I love more than a good walkoff, and that’s being present during a good walkoff. Thankfully, I had the pleasure of attending this game and I can’t be any happier. Other than the obvious, I got to see Strasburg pitch (in which he and Billingsley came out fairly even stat-wise, go us!), Bryce Harper debut/first Major League hit (which was very solid — 1-for-3 and I still can’t get over how picture perfect his batting is), Dee Gordon steal, Kemp steal, Uribe do something productive (but still not worth his 5 mil, however some things will never change), Maury Wills be Maury Wills, and probably a lot more than I can’t seem to think about because Matt Kemp is just so wonderful. I can’t even begin to describe how grateful I am for this man.
